Reverend Warren L. Thomas, Sr.
Reverend Warren L. Thomas Sr., 78, of Louisburg, stepped into his eternal home on February 28, 2026.
Warren was born to Roy and Helen (Pendergrass) Thomas in Henderson, NC.
Warren gave his life to the Lord in January 1976. He soon answered the call to preach the gospel. He spent many years working a public job and evangelizing and had a prison ministry for years. In 2017, he began pastoring Full Gospel Praise and Worship in Nashville, NC and served as pastor until his passing. In his years of ministry, he led many people to the Lord and witnessed many miracles. He never doubted the power of God and was always eager to tell everyone who would listen just how Jesus had changed his life. Until his last breath, he prayed for the miracle of being healed of cancer. Though God did not heal him here on earth, we know that he is made whole and in an eternally perfect body.
Warren was a devoted husband. He and Linda spent most of their free time together, as they had a wonderful marriage.
Warren enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing and collecting guns and knives. If he wasn’t at church, you would often find him either studying the Bible or reading a good book written by one of his favorite ministers.
He was very close to his children and grandchildren. In most recent years, much of his time was spent with his oldest grandson, Dalton. The two of them shared a very special bond and would often refer to themselves as “best friends.”
In addition to his parents and brothers, Lonnie and Richard Thomas, he was preceded in death by an unborn daughter, Sarah Elizabeth.
Warren leaves behind a beautiful family who will forever cherish his legacy. He is survived by Linda, his loving wife of over 40 years; sons Warren Jr (Rhonda) of Norlina and James Earl Thomas of Henderson, daughter Rachel Gurkin (Jamie) of Clayton, grandchildren Megan King (Chris), Ashley Aiken (Brett), Haylie Thomas, Dalton Cowley, Micaiah and Noble Gurkin and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 1 – 2 pm Tuesday, March 3rd with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm at Freedom Life (Church on Fire) Church of God. Burial will follow at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Full Gospel Praise & Worship at P.O. Box 125 Nashville, NC 27856.
